What is Thai Massage?
Thai Massage is an ancient practice dating back 2,500 years. In the Thai language, it is sometimes called “nuat phaen boran” which means ancient-style massage. The benefits of Thai Massage are numerous and widespread. Beyond being deeply relaxing, it can help improve overall vitality, increase joint mobility, and resolve energy imbalances in the body. Thai Massage is offered with metta, meaning loving-kindness and goodwill.

What Does Thai Massage Feel Like?
Thai Massage incorporates a variety of techniques to bring you the best of what massage has to offer. Muscle compression, joint mobilization, acupressure, traction, deep tissue, myofascial release, and passive yoga-like stretching are used during your session. Aryuveda, energy meridian work, and shiatsu principles are also used, to further assist in balancing the energy in your body. This combination of techniques leaves you feeling both relaxed and energized.

Thai Massage aligns the energies of the body using deep static and rhythmic pressures on specific acupressure points along the body’s energy (sen) lines. This method varies from other traditional massages, in that rather than rubbing on muscles, the body is compressed, stretched, and rocked in a series of postures.

What To Expect During My Visit
Wear comfortable, loose fitted clothing to your appointment. Since no lotions or oils are used in Thai Massage, you will remain fully dressed throughout your session. You will be on a padded mat on the floor and lie on your back, stomach and side, as well as sit during your massage. Arrive 10 minutes early to allow time to discuss your current medical condition and relax before starting the massage.
